Drive by Shooting 400 block of south Magnolia Avenue

Yuma, Arizona - Yesterday, at approximately 6:45 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 400 block of south Magnolia Avenue reference a drive by shooting.  A witness said a white 2000 model Dodge 4 door passenger car was traveling northbound at a slow rate of speed when three shots were fired from the vehicle.

Armed Robbery 2350 S, Avenue

Yuma, Arizona - This morning, at approximately 2:00 a.m. officers were dispatched to 2350 S, Avenue B in reference to a burglary.  Four unknown subjects forcefully entered an apartment and took various items while holding the occupants at gunpoint.  The suspects fled eastbound on 24th Street in a dark colored two door coupe.  One victim was struck in the head during the incident.  The victim received minor injuries and did not seek medical attention.

Back to School Safety

Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma Police Department would like to provide the community with some back to school safety tips. Awareness and education can be used as tools to help keep children safe. 

Fraudulent Schemes

Yuma, Arizona - On June 7, 2016 the Yuma Police Department responded to 180 W. 1st Street, Yuma Visitor’s Bureau, reference to a theft from a former employee.  It is alleged that Fernando Zacarias, the former accountant for the Yuma Visitor’s Bureau, made fraudulent money transfers from the YVB business account to his personal account.  Zacarias was arrested on June 9th reference this case and has been released.  This is still an intensive ongoing investigation.

TRIO KEYS Fall 2016 Open House and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

Yuma, Arizona - The TRIO KEYS Program at Arizona Western College would like to invite the AWC campus communities and the general public to their Fall 2016 Open House on Wednesday, August 31st from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm in the KEYS Building (formerly Cottage 1).  At 10:00 am, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate the new space.
