Governor Ducey Announces New Funding For Food Bank Pilot Program

Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey Tuesday joined St. Mary’s Food Bank in Phoenix to lend a helping hand with their turkey distribution. He also announced Arizona's new Friends of the Farm program, an initiative that will get more fresh food to food banks across the state.

Task Force To Prevent Sex Abuse Submits Recommendations

Phoenix, Arizona - The Justice For Victims of Child Sexual Abuse Task Force submitted its recommendations for further reforms to support victims and help prevent child sexual abuse. Governor Ducey established the task force through an executive order issued at the State Capitol on May 28, 2019 at a ceremony along with survivors of child sexual abuse, victim advocates, and members of the Legislature.

Arizona Supports Teacher Professional Development

Phoenix, Arizona - With the help of new funding included in the Fiscal Year 2020 budget, 200 Arizona teachers recently kickstarted the process toward earning National Board Certification, an advanced credential that certifies teachers beyond state licensing through a series of rigorous assessments. The voluntary certification, which represents a national standard of excellence in teaching, requires that teachers exhibit a deep understanding of content, students, assessment and more. 

Arizona’s Strong Fiscal, Economic Health Earns Upgrade

Phoenix, Arizona - Moody’s Investors Service upgraded Arizona’s credit rating from Aa2 to Aa1, the second-highest rating Moody’s offers and the highest issuer rating Arizona has ever received. Arizona is also the only state in the nation to have received two ratings upgrades from Moody’s in the past five years.

Phoenix Woman Arrested for Smuggling Migrants Near Gila Bend

Gila Bend, Arizona - U.S. Border Patrol agents working the State Route 85 Immigration Checkpoint arrested a Phoenix woman for smuggling two illegal aliens in her vehicle.
