Tuba City Man Sentenced to 42 Months for Illegally Possessing Firearms and Ammunition

Phoenix, Arizona - This week, Joshua Felkins, of Tuba City, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Douglas L. Rayes to 42 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release.  Felkins had previously pleaded guilty to being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition.

Havasupai Tribal Member Sentenced to Prison for Assaulting Officer

Phoenix, Arizona - This week, Lone Arrow Hastings, 29, of Supai Village, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Susan M. Brnovich to eight months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release.  Hastings had previously pleaded guilty to assault on a federal officer.

Judge Removes Member of Window Rock Unified School District Governing Board Following Attorney General Lawsuit

Apache County, Arizona - A Superior Court Judge has ruled Scott Tomlinson, a member of the Window Rock Unified School District Governing Board (and former Board President), is ineligible to serve as a result of a lawsuit filed by Attorney General Mark Brnovich.

Fydel Jones Sentenced for Sexual Assault at Havasupai

Phoenix, Arizona - On March 4, Fydel Jones, 53, of Supai, Arizona, was sentenced to time served plus lifetime supervised release with sex offender conditions, sex offender registration, and conditions preventing him from conducting sweat lodge ceremonies with individuals who are not Native American. Jones previously pleaded guilty to abusive sexual contact, a class E felony offense.

Arizona Rainy Day Fund Trails Pre-Recession Levels

Phoenix, Arizona - A new report published by Pew Charitable Trusts (Pew) found that Arizona’s Rainy Day Fund balance ranks in the bottom half of states nationally, and leaves Arizona at risk in the event of an economic downtown. In fact, the report found Arizona has less money today in its cash reserves than the state did prior to the Great Recession, which left Arizona with a budget shortfall of more than $2 billion.
