Two Men Convicted for Concealing Corporate Contributions to a Democratic U.S. Senate Campaign

Louisville, Kentucky - A federal jury in Kentucky found two men guilty of conspiring to use more than $206,670 of corporate funds to make contributions to the campaign of a candidate for United States Senate and for causing the concealment of these contributions from the Federal Election Commission (FEC). 

Health Care Facility Owner Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison for Role in Largest Health Care Fraud Scheme Ever

Miami, Florida - A federal district judge sentenced a south Florida health care facility owner to 20 years in prison Thursday after being found guilty in the largest health care fraud scheme charged by the U.S. Justice Department.  The case involves a decades-long scheme of kickbacks and money laundering in connection with fraudulent claims to Medicare and Medicaid for services deemed medically unnecessary.

Former Chattanooga Police Officer Pleads Guilty to Sexual Assault

Chattanooga, Tennessee - Desmond Logan, 38, formerly an officer with the Chattanooga Police Department (CPD), pleaded guilty Thursday in federal court in the Eastern District of Tennessee to two counts of violating the civil rights of victims while performing his duties as a law enforcement officer. Specifically, the defendant sexually assaulted one woman and, in a separate incident, entered the car of another victim and refused to let her out, causing her to fear for her physical safety.

Settlement with The Department of Justice and the EPA Prohibits Performance Diesel Inc. From Selling Diesel Engine Defeat Devices

Washington, DC - Thursday, the U.S. Department of Justice and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced a settlement with Performance Diesel Inc. (PDI) to resolve alleged violations of the Clean Air Act (CAA) associated with the manufacture, sale and installation of aftermarket products that defeat the emissions control systems of heavy-duty diesel engines.
