Church Leaders Indicted in Forced Labor Conspiracy

El Centro, California - A dozen leaders of Imperial Valley Ministries, including the former pastor, are charged in an indictment unsealed Tuesday with subjecting dozens of mostly homeless people to forced labor, coercing them to surrender welfare benefits and compelling them to panhandle up to nine hours a day, six days a week, for the financial benefit of the church leaders.

Former Alabama Resident Pleads Guilty to Concealing Terrorism Financing

Birmingham, Alabama - A criminal information was filed on September 11, 2019, against Alaa Mohd Abusaad, charging her with concealment of terrorism financing, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Sections 2339C and 2.  Abusaad pleaded guilty to the charge Friday.  Assistant Attorney General for National Security John C. Demers, United States Attorney Jay E. Town of the Northern District of Alabama, and FBI Special Agent in Charge Johnnie Sharp Jr. of the Birmingham Division made the announcement today.
