Yuma, Arizona - As October comes to an end, we would like to thank everyone who participated in the many activities that took place in our community during Fire Prevention Week and Month. Also, the end of October brings Halloween and a variety of associated events. Please keep safety in mind in whatever activities you are involved in. Here are a few suggestions:

Washington, DC - The United States strongly condemns the terrorist attack on a guest house in Mandera, Kenya, which killed approximately 12 people today as well as other recent attacks in Northeast Kenya and Somalia, including the attack on Djiboutian forces in the African Union Mission in Somalia. We express our deep sympathies to the victims and their families.

Washington, DC - President Obama will travel to Greece, Germany, and Peru November 14-21, 2016. This trip will highlight the President’s commitment to trans-Atlantic solidarity, a strong and integrated Europe, and to cooperation with our Asia Pacific partners. The President’s schedule will underscore the linkages between our security interests and our economic agenda, our efforts to promote balanced, sustainable, and strong global economic growth, and our support for trade liberalization and economic reforms that reduce inequality and deliver opportunities for the middle class around the world as well as regional economic institutions that foster private sector growth.

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College will be hosting Trick or Treat-Talent Search 8th graders on Thursday, October 27th on the Yuma Campus in the 3C (South Schoening and Francis Morris) starting at 9:00 am.
Armed robbery at Chevron Station

Yuma, Arizona - This morning, at approximately 4:12 a.m. officers responded to an armed robbery at Chevron, 500 E. 32nd Street. The victim reported a male subject entered the business and demanded money. The male subject fled the area with an undisclosed amount of cash.
MicroMetal Casting and Other Welding Courses

Yuma, Arizona - Arizona Western College’s welding courses for the fall semester are 100% enrolled. This fall, AWC has offered many types of welding, metal sculpture, metal smithing and blacksmithing courses. There will be a full assortment of courses available next spring. Registration begins Monday, November 14 for the Spring 2017 semester.
