Washington, DC - The Department of Justice today announced its support of efforts to collect, analyze and report state and local crime data through the National Crime Victimization Survey. The expansion of the NCVS to produce state and local crime estimates is part of a continuing effort to improve crime data collection and it aligns with recommendations from the President’s Crime Data Task Force, which is focused on reducing violent crime.

New York - An indictment was unsealed today charging Mirsad Kandic, 36, a legal permanent resident of the United States who left the United States in 2013, with one count of conspiring to provide material support and resources to the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS), a designated foreign terrorist organization, resulting in death, and five counts of providing and attempting to provide material support and resources to ISIS, including personnel, equipment and false documentation and identification, including one count resulting in death.
