Correctional Sergeant Sentenced for Assaulting Inmates

Elmore, Alabama - The Justice Department announced that Ulysses Oliver Jr., 47, a former Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Sergeant, was sentenced in federal court to this morning to 30 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Oliver previously pleaded guilty to assaulting two inmates at ADOC’s Elmore Correctional Facility.

Griffith, Indiana - The Sanitary District of Highland, Indiana, and the Town of Griffith, Indiana, have agreed to construction projects and capital investments that will eliminate discharges of untreated sewage from their sewer systems into nearby water bodies, including the Little Calumet River.
