Correctional Sergeant Sentenced for Assaulting Inmates

Elmore, Alabama - The Justice Department announced that Ulysses Oliver Jr., 47, a former Alabama Department of Corrections (ADOC) Sergeant, was sentenced in federal court to this morning to 30 months of imprisonment, to be followed by three years of supervised release. Oliver previously pleaded guilty to assaulting two inmates at ADOC’s Elmore Correctional Facility.

Griffith, Indiana - The Sanitary District of Highland, Indiana, and the Town of Griffith, Indiana, have agreed to construction projects and capital investments that will eliminate discharges of untreated sewage from their sewer systems into nearby water bodies, including the Little Calumet River.

Nationally, work zone crashes occur at an average of one per every 5.8 minutes. The top three causes? Following too closely, inattentive and/or distracted driving, and excessive speed. Houston, Texas - A Texas woman was sentenced Thursday to 70 months in prison for her scheme to defraud the Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) of over $1.9 million in loans guaranteed by the Small Business Administration (SBA) under the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.
