Yuma, Arizona - Border Patrol agents seized 26 pounds of methamphetamine, worth an estimated $78,000, and arrested three male U.S. citizens when they attempted to smuggle the illegal drugs through a Yuma Sector traffic checkpoint Tuesday night.
Agents working at Interstate-8 checkpoint east of Yuma referred the trio for a secondary inspection of the vehicle they were traveling in when they arrived at the checkpoint. Agents then conducted a consensual search of the vehicle and found multiple packages of methamphetamine concealed inside the vehicle’s floorboards.
The suspects, narcotics and vehicle were processed per Yuma Sector guidelines.
