Yuma, Arizona - Partner agencies involved with a project assessment and feasibility study for the possible relocation of the Yuma County Fairgrounds invite you to the presentation of the final draft of the conceptual master plan of the fairgrounds relocation study.
This public meeting, featuring representatives from the consultant team, Populous Inc., and project team members from the City of Yuma, the Yuma County Fair Inc., Marine Corps Air Station Yuma (MCAS Yuma), Yuma County and the Yuma County Airport Authority (YCAA), will be held 5:30 p.m. Friday, July 22 in the Newcomer’s Building of the Yuma County Fairgrounds, accessed from Avenue 2-1/2E between Palo Verde Street and 32nd Street.
Members of the project team will conduct a short presentation on the final draft conceptual master plan, which is designed to meet the current and future needs of the fairgrounds. Following the presentation, attendees will have an opportunity to participate in a question-and-answer session about the plan.
This project was initiated at the request of MCAS Yuma. Following that request, the City, County, MCAS, YCAA and the Fair board entered into a memorandum of understanding, then successfully obtained grant funding from the State of Arizona Military Affairs Commission and the Department of Defense's Office of Economic Adjustment to pay for this study.
The parties subsequently commissioned Populous to complete the project assessment study, which will determine the feasibility of specific sites and the overall costs of relocation. Participation in the study does not bind any one entity to the future use of a site or to relocate the Yuma County Fairgrounds.
