Yuma, Arizona - Last night, at approximately 11:45 p.m., Somerton Police Department received a call from a Somerton resident reporting he had discovered threatening text messages on his sons telephone. The text messages were between his son and another male who resides in Yuma. The threats were specific in nature, identifying the time, location, and target. 

The two juveniles were conspiring to "blow up" Kofa High School.  Due to the specifics of the threat, Somerton Police detectives were called.  The Somerton juvenile was interviewed and subsequently arrested.  A search of the Somerton home was conducted with negative results. The Yuma juvenile was positively identified with the assistance of Kofa High School staff and Yuma Police School Resource Officer. Somerton Police detectives and Yuma Police officers contacted the Yuma juvenile at his home where he was arrested. 

A search of the Yuma home was also conducted with negative results.  Both juveniles were booked into the Yuma County Juvenile Detention Center on Threats and Disrupting an Educational Institution, both felonies.  No other persons are believed to be involved in the threats.
