Yuma, Arizona - Thanks to a collaborative effort including generous donations from the Optimist Club of Yuma and the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center and a grant from Greenfields Outdoor Fitness, Yuma Parks and Recreation was able to obtain and install fitness equipment in Smucker Park. Next Thursday, the City will officially dedicate the equipment.
The City of Yuma invites you to the dedication ceremony at 9 a.m. Thursday, July 14 in Ramada 15 at Ray Smucker Park, 28th Street and Avenue A, with parking off of Palmcroft Drive. The event will include a presentation, ribbon-cutting and light refreshments.
The City’s parks maintenance division recently completed installation of seven new outdoor fitness equipment pieces from Greenfields Outdoor Fitness at various stations around the park’s perimeter walking path. Those stations are now available for use.
“The City of Yuma Parks and Recreation Department would like to thank the Optimist Club of Yuma and the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center for their generous contribution, commitment and support toward helping our kids and community build a healthier lifestyle while having fun,” said Parks and Recreation Director Debbie Wendt.
The Optimist Club of Yuma and YRMC Foundation both donated $10,000 each. The City was also awarded a $10,000 grant from Greenfields.
The new equipment includes:
- A four-person pendulum abs and dip station.
- A two-person cross-country ski station.
- A two-person wheelchair-accessible vertical press station.
- A two-person wheelchair-accessible chest press station.
- A two-person wheelchair-accessible lat pull-down station.
- A three-person static combo sit-up, pull-up and dip station.
- A four-person leg press station.
Please review the posted rules and regulations before utilizing the outdoor fitness equipment. The City of Yuma advises park visitors that supervision is not provided for equipment use; please use the equipment with caution. Equipment is for use by persons over 13 years old; children should be supervised by an adult. Also, park visitors are advised to consult their physician prior to starting any physical fitness training program.
