Yuma, Arizona - Downtown Main Street will light up with holiday cheer this Saturday evening. City of Yuma Heritage Festivals invites you to the inaugural Christmas Lighting on Historic Main Street, a family-friendly holiday event.

The official lighting ceremony for the Main Street Christmas Tree, located in front of the Yuma Art Center at 254 S. Main St., will take place at 6 p.m. Mayor Douglas Nicholls will kick off the evening. Then, Main Street will blossom into one of its popular block parties, featuring live performances by the band Boogie Two Shoes and Glam Dance Team by Cindy.

There will be a free children’s area featuring jumpy houses and photos with Santa.

The Toys for a Cause Car Show and Shine will feature classic vehicles for visitors to view, including classics, hotrods, customs and motorcycles, hosted by Together Car Club of Yuma. Entry fees will go toward raising Christmas toys for children in need.

In the spirit of giving, the event will have Salvation Army Angel Trees, donation boxes from Yuma Community Food Bank and bins for unwrapped toy donations. While attendance to the event is free, visitors are encouraged to bring a donation or take a name from the Angel Tree and follow through on the promise to make a holiday purchase on behalf of that family.
