Yuma, Arizona - On Friday, November 24, 2017 at approximately 9:21 p.m., two Yuma Police Department officers responded to a Domestic Violence call at a residence located in the 3500 block W. 12th Place.
The Officers make contact with a 51 year old male subject that was armed. A shot was fired and the male subject was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center with undisclosed injuries.
No Yuma Police Department officers were injured during this incident.
The Yuma Police Department is conducting the investigation into the shooting.
The subject has been identified as 51 year old Steve Steenhard. Steve Steenhard was later pronounced deceased at Yuma Regional Medical Center. Next of Kin has been notified.
The officer involved in this shooting is Officer Sabino Saucedo. Officer Saucedo has been with the Yuma Police Department since August 1, 2016 and he has been placed on administrative leave, a standard procedure with officers involved in a shooting.
