Somerton, Arizona - On Wednesday, Detectives from the Yuma Police Department were scheduled to serve a search warrant on a residence in the 100 Block of W. Canal Street in Somerton, Arizona. The warrant was in reference to a fraud-schemes case and the Detectives had probable cause to arrest 37 year old Alfredo Ibarra if located at the residence.
Prior to YPD Detectives arriving at the location, Border Patrol agents had an incident with Alfredo Ibarra which led them to the 100 Block of W. Canal Street, where Ibarra fled into the residence. YPD was contacted and informed of the incident and our Special Enforcement Team was activated at 12:08 p.m. for a barricaded subject.
A perimeter was set up around the residence and announcements were made for the occupants to come out. At 2:18 p.m. two male subjects exited the back side of the residence and were detained. Border Patrol took custody of the two detained subjects. It was confirmed at that time that Alfredo Ibarra was still inside the residence.
Announcements continued and gas was deployed into the residence. At 6:11 p.m. officers made entry into the residence and Alfredo Ibarra was taken into custody without further incident and will be booked into the Yuma County Detention Center.
