Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma City Council will consider adopting an ordinance to amend the zoning code to address off-site signage and add definitions related to digital billboards at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 5 inside the Council Chambers of City Hall, One City Plaza.
At the start of the City Council meeting, a Community Planning Month proclamation will be read.
There are several items on the motion consent agenda, which will be considered and enacted in one motion, including:
- A special event liquor license for Immaculate Conception Church's Cursillo Harvest Hop.
- A special event liquor license for the AWC Foundation Schoolhouse Soiree.
- A cooperative purchase agreement for the purchase and delivery of asphalt crack sealing compound.
- A cooperative purchase agreement for the purchase and delivery of two automated side loader collection trucks.
- A cooperative purchase agreement for enterprise software assurance through a three-year contract.
- Authorizing the City Administrator to accept and execute the required documents for the 2016 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant Program award in the amount of $60,827.
- Authorizing the City Administrator to execute an intergovernmental agreement with Yuma County to provide a Justice Court Initial Appearance Master to preside over initial appearances at the Yuma Municipal Court on weekends and City-recognized holidays.
- Authorizing the City Administrator to execute an intergovernmental agreement to formalize a bilateral relationship to promote growth and expand economic opportunities in the border region through "4FrontED," a binational program.
There is one item on the Resolution Consent Agenda that, if approved, would allow the City Administrator to execute an amendment to an intergovernmental agreement with the State of Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for the construction of the West Main Canal multi-use path.
There are several ordinances scheduled for adoption:
- The declaration of two parcels of City-owned property as surplus, and authorization of the sale of those surplus properties.
- A public hearing to determine compliance with the conditions of approval for rezoning through an existing ordinance, and introducing an ordinance that extends the time to comply with the rezoning conditions.
- The rezone of property at the southwest corner of Avenue C and the Central Drain to the medium density single-family residential district.
There is one ordinance scheduled for introduction. If later adopted, it would set the manner of appointment of Municipal Court Judge Pro Tempore and term of office.
City staff will provide an update to the Yuma City Council regarding a previous Call to the Public item.
Immediately following the City Council meeting, or at 6 p.m., a Floodplain Board Hearing will be held to hear and consider approving a Floodplain Variance Request. The request is in regards to property off of 6th Avenue, between Colorado St. and 1st St., to eliminate the requirement for flood openings in an existing attached garage that does not meet the minimum FEMA Base Flood Elevation.
