Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma Police Department is pleased to announce we are the recipient of grant funding from the Office of Justice Programs’ Bureau of Justice Assistance’s (BJA) Fiscal Year 2016 Body-Worn Camera Policy and Implementation Program.
This Body-Worn Camera Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice in the amount of $104,988.00 will be used for research and development of a body-worn camera purchase project, research and draft policy and program implementation. This grant requires a City of Yuma match which will be satisfied through in-kind implementation and RICO funds. Pending Yuma City Council approval, the Yuma Police Department’s goal, is to buy 70 body-worn cameras and 12 docking stations, the majority of which will be used for our Patrol Division.
During the 2016 grant cycle the Yuma Police Department is one of 106 law enforcement agencies across the United States to receive this funding.
