Yuma, Arizona - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, will open in Yuma on August 15. Franchise owners Ryan Feghali and his father Elie Feghali, will hold a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, August 15 to Sunday, August 19 to support the Foundation of Yuma Regional Medical Center (FYRMC).

Yuma, Arizona - August is Drowning Impact Awareness Month: Every year many of Arizona’s drowning deaths involve flash floods. In fact, more deaths occur due to flooding than any other thunderstorm related hazard, and over half of all flood related drownings occur when a vehicle is driven into flood waters. Never drive into a flooded wash or other area of running water. Remember, the National Weather Service (NWS) reminds people to “Turn around, Don’t Drown!”

Yuma, Arizona - As thousands of Arizona Western College students head back to campus, they’ll experience the dreaded ritual of buying textbooks and course materials. It’s the second-leading cause of stress for students after paying the tuition bill, according to a new Morning Consult survey.
Broken Gas Line 500 block of West 18th Street

Yuma, Arizona - On Tuesday August 7, just after 10:00 am, a broken gas line was reported in the area of the 500 block of West 18th Street. Arriving Yuma Fire Department personnel found that a half inch diameter gas line had been broken by a backhoe in the alley between 5th Avenue and 6th Avenue just south of 18th Street. A construction crew had been doing work in the alley when the line was hit.
