From Patton to Victory

Yuma, Arizona - On Wednesday, November 30th, Bill Heidner, Museum Curator of the Yuma Proving Ground Heritage Center, will present “From Patton to Victory: Dynamic Army Training in the Southwest” at Yuma County Libraries. Perhaps the most celebrated general officer of World War II, General George S Patton established the Desert Training Center, with Yuma as its southern anchor. Over 1.5 million Army troops came to the Desert Southwest to undergo training that ultimately brought about victory.

Libraries closed for Thanksgiving

Yuma, Arizona - Libraries in the Yuma County Library District: Main, Heritage, Foothills, San Luis, Somerton, and Wellton will close at 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 23rd, and will remain closed all day Thursday, November 24th, and Friday, November 25th, in observance of Thanksgiving. The libraries will resume their regular hours Saturday, November 26th.

City Hall closing, trash pickups altered around Veterans Day

Yuma, Arizona - Yuma City Hall will be closed Friday, November 11 for observance of Veterans Day.

Attempted Residential Burglary 2300 block of S. Walnut Avenue shots fired

Yuma, Arizona - This morning at approximately 1:04 a.m., an unidentified male subject attempted to enter a residence in the 2300 block of S. Walnut Avenue.  The homeowner was awoken by a loud noise sounding like someone trying to kick in a door.  When a noise was heard coming from the bathroom, the homeowner retrieved a weapon.  Upon opening the bathroom door, the homeowner found a male subject in the process of climbing into the bathroom through a window.
