Washington, DC - Deputy Secretary John J. Sullivan will deliver closing remarks at an event for the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence at the Department of State’s George C. Marshall Center on December 4, 2017.

The Deputy Secretary’s remarks will follow a panel discussion on the efforts of the State Department and civil society partners to engage men and boys to break the cycle of violence against women and children. At the event, the State Department will launch “Voices Against Violence,” a public private partnership with the Avon Foundation that provides a new approach to combating gender-based violence, especially in areas of conflict. Engaging men and boys as partners in the efforts to prevent and respond to gender-based violence is key to ending the suffering that affects millions of men, women, and children around the world.
