Washington, DC - Secretary of State John Kerry spoke by telephone Friday afternoon with former Colombian President Alvaro Uribe.

The Secretary commended former President Uribe for his commitment to peace and his openness to dialogue after the plebiscite. He made clear that the former President’s continued willingness to work toward a durable accord will be critical moving forward.

Finally, Secretary Kerry reaffirmed our steadfast support for Colombia as it seeks to secure a permanent peace, justice and prosperity for all Colombians.
