Yuma, Arizona - The Arizona Western College (AWC) Massage Therapy students will be offering chair massages in the College Community Center 3C on the Yuma Campus from 11am-1pm. The program students will be available for $10 for a 15 minute chair massage. No appointment will be necessary. And the public is welcome.
The funds raised during the chair massage session will go to the AWC Student Massage Clinic, which will help support scholarships and extra-curricular activities. To learn more about the chair massages please call the AWC Student Massage Clinic at (928) 317-7529.
Kate Turpin, Professor/Coordinator for Massage Therapy AND Community Health Worker Programs, says the chair massage session is back this summer based on several AWC staff requested. “This is a benefit to the AWC employees at a reduced rate…it also provides the students in the program, the opportunity to practice their craft in real world situations…."
The AWC Massage Therapy Program is a three semester program that provides students with the required training to apply for an Arizona State license. They offer advanced training opportunities in medical massage, including oncology massage. They have paid internships to build practice hours necessary for National Board Certification in their clinic which is open all year.
The AWC instructors care about EACH student and will help them obtain the skills required to become a successful therapist. Students can learn: Swedish massage, seated (chair) massage, sports, hot stone, and many other techniques.
The AWC Massage Therapy Program is engaged in many community events throughout the year to help students practice their skills and to give back to their community. Seats are still available for Fall 2017. Call today for more information and an application packet, (928) 317-6056 or email This email address is being protected from spambots.
