San Luis, Arizona - U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Port of San Luis arrested a Mexican national Aug. 6 for attempting to smuggle nearly 27 pounds of methamphetamine valued at approximately $80,000.
After CBP officers referred the 46-year-old resident of San Luis, Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexico, for further inspection of his Ford SUV, a CBP narcotics-detection canine alerted to the presence of drugs. Officers then located multiple packages of meth inside of the gas tank.
Officers seized the drugs and vehicle. The subject was arrested and then turned over to
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.
