Kingsville, Texas - The Rio Grande Valley Sector Border Patrol Search, Trauma, and Rescue (BORSTAR) operators saved two undocumented immigrants after they were abandoned by their smuggler.
Agents responded to a distress call in reference to a group of immigrants in a brushy area. BORSTAR operators and a service K-9 were deployed and located the group in distress. Agents requested an ambulance and a Helo flight to assist in the rescue, as the women were exhibiting signs of dehydration. Two of the women were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
BORSTAR operators are medically trained agents who hold certifications ranging from Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT) to Certified Paramedics and are often called out to the field to treat, and stabilize those in need.
