San Luis, Arizona -U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at Arizona’s Port of San Luis arrested a Yuma woman and seized more than 50 pounds of methamphetamine Monday evening.
Officers referred the 24-year-old, U.S. citizen and her Dodge truck for further inspection as she entered the United States at the port. Subsequently, a CBP narcotics detection canine alerted to an odor it was trained to detect leading officers to drugs in the spare tire, where they discovered and removed multiple packages of methamphetamine. The drugs weighed more than 52 pounds, and are estimated to be worth more than $156,000.
The suspect was arrested and turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations, with the seized vehicle and drugs.
