Edinburg, Texas - Border Patrol agents assigned to the Falfurrias station saved the life of an immigrant in distress after he activated a rescue beacon. It happened early this morning and agents rapidly responded to the area and began treating the migrant for dehydration. The migrant was transported to Christus Spohn hospital, he will be processed accordingly.
Agents also recovered remains of three victims that succumbed to the harsh conditions they endured at the hands of smugglers. Those deaths occurred in Brooks and Kenedy Counties.
“Many illegal immigrants smuggled into the United States are unaware of the extreme danger they face in regard to harsh environmental conditions. They also do not realize that they must walk for several days with very little, if any, food and water,” said Rio Grande Valley Sector Chief Patrol Agent Manuel Padilla Jr.
