Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey Monday announced the appointment of Elizabeth Thorson as interim director of the Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA). The Department of Administration serves as the internal services agency covering human resources, procurement, accounting, benefits, risk management, grants, and information technology for the State of Arizona. Mrs. Thorson was formerly the Deputy Director of ADOA.
“Elizabeth has built an impressive amount of institutional knowledge at ADOA,” said Governor Ducey. “Her deep understanding of the department and its employees make her well-qualified to serve as Director. I am confident in her abilities to lead ADOA and ensure Arizona is a model example of good government.”
Elizabeth Thorson was appointed to Deputy Director of ADOA in May of 2018. Elizabeth oversaw the direction of policy and operations of the General Accounting Office, State Procurement Office and Human Resources and Benefits Services divisions. Prior to her appointment to Deputy Director, Elizabeth served as the Director of the Human Resources Division for ADOA and Chief Human Resources Officer for the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.
Mrs. Thorson earned a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science with a minor in Psychology and emphasis in Organizational Behavior from Arizona State University. In addition, she was a 2017 Flinn Brown Civic Leadership Academy Fellow.
