Chandler, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced a State Grand Jury indicted Laura Lynn Bell, a former Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, for her alleged involvement in trying to obtain a new nurse identity.
In October of 2016, Bell’s nursing license was revoked by the Arizona State Board of Nursing. Recently, Bell is accused of sending a name change request form to the University of South Alabama in an attempt to get her nursing transcripts in another name. It is also alleged she sent the University a forged Maricopa County Superior Court minute entry and driver’s license purporting to show Bell’s name and date of birth were legally changed.
Bell is facing four felony charges, including Fraudulent Schemes and Artifices, Taking the Identity of Another, and two counts of Forgery. The State is alleging these offenses were committed while Bell was on release for another case in which she is accused of treating Veterans Affairs patients while unlicensed and defrauding multiple insurance companies. She is currently being held without bond.
This matter was investigated by the Arizona Department of Transportation’s Enforcement and Compliance Division, in conjunction with the Attorney General’s Office.
Assistant Attorney General Tarah White is prosecuting the case.
All defendants are presumed innocent until convicted in a court of law.
