Phoenix, Arizona - Arizona added 262,700 new jobs (seasonally adjusted, nonfarm) since January 2015 according to the Arizona Office of Economic Opportunity's (OEO) monthly report for August 2018. Arizona is also experiencing the lowest unemployment rate in a decade with OEO reporting an unemployment rate of 4.6 percent.
“Arizona’s unparalleled business environment continues to result in more jobs and more opportunities for the citizens of our state,” said Governor Ducey. “A prospering economy directly benefits the people of Arizona. We remain focused on ensuring Arizona is the best state in the nation to develop new ideas and launch or scale a business.”
The updated jobs numbers follow a string of recent economic development announcements across the state of Arizona. Citing Arizona’s strong infrastructure, emphasis on innovation, talent pool and quality of life, companies continue to expand or set up operations in our state.
In the past two months, the following companies have announced plans to expand in Arizona:
- Acronis: Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection, announced plans to double its investment in Arizona to $20 million and create more than 100 new jobs in engineering research and development.
- Airobotics: Airobotics, an Israeli automated drone startup that supports the mining industry, launched its North American headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona, bringing 83 new jobs to the state.
- Infosys: Infosys, a global leader in consulting, technology and next-generation services, announced plans to launch its first Technology and Innovation Hub on the West Coast in Arizona and hire 1000 workers in the state.
- Valor Global: Valor Global is an Arizona-based international company that announced plans to create 1000 new jobs in our state over the next year in positions ranging from customer care to tech support.
- TuSimple: TuSimple, a Chinese global self-driving truck company, announced plans to double its current footprint and create 500 new jobs in Tucson, Arizona, ranging in fields from engineering and autonomous truck driving to office management.
- Andersen Corp: Premier window and door manufacturer Andersen Corporation announced plans to invest over $105 million in building a new manufacturing and distribution campus in Arizona, creating more than 415 new jobs.
- Rogers Corporation: Rogers Corporation announced plans to create 90 new jobs through an expansion of its technology-focused manufacturing operations in Chandler, Arizona.
- AXISCADES: One of India’s leading technology firms, AXISCADES announced plans to expand into Tucson, Arizona, creating a projected 320 jobs primarily in mechanical and electrical engineering.
- Cognizant: Cognizant announced the opening of its newest regional technology and service delivery center in Mesa, Arizona, which will house over 500 new, highly-skilled technology employees.
