Border Patrol Agents Arrest Gang Member Smuggling Aliens

Casa Grande, Arizona - Casa Grande Station Border Patrol agents arrested the U.S. citizen driver of a Ford Fusion, Monday evening, after conducting an immigration stop west of Tucson and discovering his five passengers were in the country illegally.

Parker Man Sentenced to Prison for Assault with a Dangerous Weapon

Phoenix, Arizona - Wednesday, Jason Allen Martinez, 37, of Parker, Arizona, and a member of the Colorado River Indian Tribes, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge David G. Campbell to 77 months in prison, followed by a term of three years of supervised release.  Martinez had previously pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.  Martinez was also sentenced to four months’ imprisonment in a 2010 supervised release matter, to run consecutive to the sentence imposed in the 2017 case.  Martinez had previously admitted to violating his supervised release.

Governor Ducey Calls On Board of Dental Examiners To Use New Model to Protect Public Safety And Increase Accountability

Phoenix, Arizona - In a letter sent Thursday, Governor Doug Ducey called on the Board of Dental Examiners (Board) to adopt a new, innovative partnership with the Arizona Department of Health Services (ADHS) to increase accountability, protect public safety and ensure prompt and thorough investigations of all complaints. State law allows for the board to “contract with other state or federal agencies as required to carry out the purposes of this chapter.” Under the new organizational structure the Board would contract with ADHS for executive director services. While the Board will continue to operate independently, it will receive the benefits of ADHS’s health expertise and experience in occupational licensing.
