Kayenta Woman Sentenced to 84 Months in Federal Prison for Shooting Death

Phoenix, Arizona - Monday, Georgina Warren, 34, of Dennehotso, Arizona, and a member of the Navajo Nation, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Steven P. Logan to 84 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.  Warren had previously pleaded guilty to one count of involuntary manslaughter and one count of assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

Fort Defiance Man Sentenced to 41 Months for Stabbing

Phoenix, Arizona - Yesterday, Irwin Carl Foster, 38, of Ft. Defiance, Arizona, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John J. Tuchi to 41 months’ imprisonment. Foster had previously pleaded guilty to assault with a dangerous weapon.

Justice Department Reaches Settlement Agreement with Native American Community Health Center Resolving the USERRA Claims of United States Navy Reservist

Phoenix, Arizona - The Department of Justice announced that it has reached a settlement agreement with Native American Community Health Center (Native Health), a private corporation located in Phoenix, Arizona. The settlement agreement resolves allegations that Native Health violated the employment rights of Commander Mario L. Islas, a Navy Reservist, under the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act of 1994 (USERRA). USERRA safeguards the rights of uniformed servicemembers, including Reservists, to all benefits of employment following periods of absence due to military service obligations.
