Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Doug Ducey announced that Kaitlin Harrier will serve as Policy Advisor for Education. Harrier, a former student regent to the Arizona Board of Regents, previously served as the Governor’s Policy Advisor for Administration and Economic Affairs as well as in the Governor’s Office of Strategic Planning and Budgeting (OSPB), where she made key contributions to the governor’s K-12 funding initiatives, including Proposition 123.

Two Valley Men Indicted on Multiple Counts of Sexual Exploitation of Minors

Phoenix, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced that a State Grand Jury has indicted John Christopher Spero and Edward Clarence Elder separately, both on multiple counts of sexual exploitation of minors. The cases are unrelated. Both cases were investigated in conjunction with the Arizona Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

Justice Department Settles Immigration-Related Discrimination Claim Against Arizona Baked Goods Supplier

Phoenix, Arizona - The Department of Justice Tuesday announced that it reached a settlement agreement with United General Bakery Inc., or Upper Crust Bakery (UCB), a baked goods supplier located in Phoenix, Arizona. The settlement resolves the Department of Justice’s investigation into whether the company discriminated against authorized workers based on their citizenship status in violation of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) when verifying their authorization to work.

Two Men Arrested for Conspiring to Provide Material Support to ISIS

Phoenix, Arizona - John Demers, Assistant Attorney General for National Security, Michael Bailey, the United States Attorney for the District of Arizona, Michael McGarrity, Assistant Director of the FBI's Counterterrorism Division, and Sean Kaul, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Phoenix Field Office, announced that on July 26, Ahmed Mahad Mohamed and Abdi Yemani Hussein, were arrested for conspiring to provide material support and resources to ISIS, a designated foreign terrorist organization.
