Washington, DC - Under Secretary of State for Civilian Security, Democracy, and Human Rights Sarah Sewall will travel to Hungary May 25-27.

In Hungary, Under Secretary Sewall will meet with government officials, civil society representatives, and community and religious leaders to emphasize U.S. support for democratic institutions, the rule of law, and human rights. She will discuss civil liberties with representatives of civil society, including Jewish and Roma community leaders. She will also meet judges and prosecutors from key partners in central and eastern Europe participating in a U.S.-funded anti-corruption workshop at the International Law Enforcement Academy in Budapest.

She will deliver public remarks entitled, “Democracy and Human Rights: Shared Challenges and Opportunities,” at the House of Hungarian Press, the oldest journalists association in Hungary.
