Former Indianapolis Police Officer Sentenced to Prison for Excessive Force Against an Arrestee at Veterans Affairs Medical Center

Indianapolis, Indiana - Michael Kaim, 28, a former police officer with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center Police Department, was sentenced Tuesday in U.S. District Court in Indianapolis, Indiana, for deprivation of civil rights, announced John Gore, Acting Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division; United States Attorney Josh J. Minkler of the Southern District of Indiana; and Grant Mendenhall, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI’s Indianapolis Division. Kaim was sentenced to serve 12 months in prison and pay a fine of $1,000.

Houston, Texas - A federal grand jury sitting in Houston, Texas returned an indictment today charging a Houston attorney with one count of conspiracy to defraud the United States and three counts of tax evasion, announced Principal Deputy Assistant Attorney General Richard E.
