Podiatrist Sentenced to Prison for Medicare Fraud Scheme

Tucson, Arizona - On May 17, Loren Wessel, 55, a resident of Tucson, was sentenced by United States District Judge James A. Soto for his role in a Medicare fraud scheme.  Wessel had previously pleaded guilty to Health Care Fraud.

Former Georgia County Commissioner Indicted on Extortion and Bribery Charges

Atlanta, Georgia - A federal grand jury in the Northern District of Georgia has returned a three-count indictment against a former commissioner in DeKalb County, Georgia, for extorting bribe payments from a DeKalb County subcontractor.  Assistant Attorney General Brian Benczkowski of the Justice Department’s Criminal Division made the announcement.
