US Foods Recalls Raw Beef and Pork Products due to Possible Product Contamination

Washington, DC - US Foods, a Birmingham, AL, establishment, is recalling approximately 712 pounds of raw beef and pork products that may be adulterated due to possible product contamination, the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced today.

Former Government Contractor Sentenced to Nine Years in Federal Prison for Willful Retention of National Defense Information

Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Richard D. Bennett Friday sentenced Harold Thomas Martin, III, age 54, of Glen Burnie, Maryland, to nine years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release, for willful retention of national defense information.

Federal judge enters consent decree against Arkansas food and medical product grocery warehouse for insanitary conditions

Washington, DC - The U.S. District Court for the Western District of Arkansas ordered J and L Grocery, LLC. of Alma, Arkansas, the company’s owner, James T. White, and its manager, Lori A. Layne, to stop distributing food, drug products, medical devices and cosmetics until the company complies with the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FD&C Act) and other requirements listed in a consent decree.

Police Investigator Sentenced to Prison for Assaulting Handcuffed Arrestee

Montgomery, Alabama - Former Tallassee Police investigator Brandan Smirnoff, 27, was sentenced to 22 months in prison for assaulting a handcuffed, 24-year-old man. Smirnoff encountered the victim, J.M., after a vehicle pursuit. After officers pursued J.M. for several minutes on a four-wheeler, J.M. stepped off the four-wheeler, laid face down on the ground, and allowed several Tallassee police officers to handcuff him.
