Learn how to turn your iPad into a learning center for your child using fun, educational apps! The Science Station iPad Project at the Somerton Library will also be discussed.

Yuma, Arizona - Last week YFD responded to a report of a poisoning involving a 1 year old who drank an unknown substance. According to National Center for Injury Prevention and Control, approximately 45 percent of unintentional injury deaths occurred in and around the home. Unintentional home injury deaths of children are caused primarily by fire and burns, suffocation, drowning, firearms, falls, choking and poisoning.

FDA approves first automated insulin delivery device for type 1 diabetes

Washington, DC - The U.S. Food and Drug Administration today approved Medtronic’s MiniMed 670G hybrid closed looped system, the first FDA-approved device that is intended to automatically monitor glucose (sugar) and provide appropriate basal insulin doses in people 14 years of age and older with type 1 diabetes.
Arizona Ranks 21st on Tax Competitiveness

Washington, DC - Arizona has the 21st most competitive tax code in the nation according to the 13th annual State Business Tax Climate Index, released this morning by the nonpartisan Tax Foundation. The report measures how well-structured each state’s tax code is by analyzing over 100 tax variables in five different tax categories: corporate, individual income, sales, property, and unemployment insurance.
