Phoenix, Arizona - Attorney General Mark Brnovich announced last week that former Maricopa County Assessor Paul Petersen pleaded guilty in Maricopa County Superior Court to running an adoption fraud scheme that involved bringing pregnant women from the Marshall Islands to the U.S. to give birth, fraudulently paid for by Arizona taxpayers. Today's plea agreements only resolve Petersen’s criminal cases in Arizona.
