Washington, DC - Mubashar Choudry, M.D., and three medical practices with which he is associated, Washington Cardiovascular Institute, Advanced Vascular Resources, and Washington Vascular Institute, have agreed to pay the United States $750,000 to resolve False Claims Act allegations that they knowingly billed Medicare and TRICARE for claims in violation of the Anti-Kickback Statute (AKS), the Department of Justice announced Friday.

Clinton, New Jersey - The Department of Justice’s Civil Rights Division and the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of New Jersey Monday concluded that there is reasonable cause to believe that the conditions at the Edna Mahan Correctional Facility for Women (Edna Mahan) in Clinton, violate the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution. Specifically, the department concluded that there is reasonable cause to believe that Edna Mahan fails to protect prisoners from sexual abuse by the facility’s staff.
