Every 33 Seconds, a Child is Involved in a Car Crash

Yuma, Arizona - With more than 2,600 children under 13 involved in a car crash every day, or one child every 33 seconds, parents need to be extra vigilant about keeping kids safe in cars. And while most families put kids in car seats, the latest research from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) shows that 59 percent of car seats are not installed correctly. To bring parents easy-to-access expert advice to protect their children in cars, Safe Kids Worldwide is launching a new resource today, the Ultimate Car Seat Guide.

Secretary Mabus Names Two Destroyers for Medal of Honor Recipients

Oxford, Mississippi - In a ceremony at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium Sept. 17, Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus announced Arleigh Burke-class destroyer, DDG 125, will be named Jack H. Lucas in honor of the Marine Corps hero and Medal of Honor recipient. Mabus also announced that DDG 126 would be named Louis H. Wilson Jr. in honor of the 26th commandant of the Marine Corps who was also a Medal of Honor recipient.
8th Street and Magnolia Avenue shooting incident

Yuma, Arizona - On Friday evening, at about 10:10 pm several gunshots were heard coming from the area of 8th Street and Magnolia Avenue. A crime scene consisting of several shell casings was found near 7th Street and 19th Avenue. There were no reported injuries.
