Yuma, Arizona - Today, at approximately 1:30 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 3900 block of W. 22nd Lane for a suspicious vehicle.  The vehicle was located and a license plate check showed the vehicle had been reported stolen on July 30, 2017.

A male subject was observed exiting the vehicle and fled into an apartment in the area.  A perimeter was set and announcements were made for everyone to come out of the apartment.  Eventually, several subjects came out of the residence and stated that a male subject was still inside.  A K9 team was on sight and K9 announcements were made.  Entry was made into the apartment and the K9 gave an indication to the presence of an odor from the A/C return.  The suspect, later identified as 30 year old Richard Morales Alejandre, refused to obey commands to give up and would not show his hands.  The K9 was sent and apprehended Richard Alejandre, who was pulled out and taken into custody.

Richard Alejandre was transported to Yuma Regional Medical Center for treatment and will be booked on theft of transportation and drug charges.

Inside the recovered stolen vehicle were missing items that had been reported stolen from previous burglaries.
