Operation Safe Holiday

Yuma, Arizona - The Yuma Police Department will be conducting enhanced traffic patrols on Friday November 28th and Saturday November 29th.  Officers will be patrolling for all traffic offenses including driving under the influence.  A zero tolerance policy will be implemented.  DUI enforcement and aggressive driving and excessive speed will be enforced.  The S.T.E.P. (Selective Traffic Enforcement Program) grant allows for more officers to be deployed during heavy traffic holiday weekends.

Unintentional falls matter

Yuma, Arizona - Many of the injury cases the Yuma Fire Department responds to are the result of falls. Last week at least 31 emergency medical responses were for injuries related to falls, and there have been many HUNDREDS every year. Every week about 10-15% of our calls for service are fall related. This could be something as simple as tripping in a parking lot or cases often more serious, like falling from a ladder or roof. No matter your age or activity, it pays to watch your footing and be careful.
