Yuma, Arizona - Known as an annual “must” event for children and their parents for years, the Children’s Festival of the Arts will celebrate its 25th anniversary when it returns 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, November 4, on Yuma’s historic downtown Main Street.
The family-friendly festival, supported by dozens of local organizations and art education supporters, is free to attend.
“This year we’re heading back to the theme of Story Time as we take over Main Street with over 20 activity booths with hands-on art projects that children can create and take home,” said Lindsay Benacka, arts and culture program manager for the City of Yuma.
The City invites attendees to join the opening ceremony’s costume parade by dressing as your favorite classic story character. The parade will start at the roundabout on 2nd Street and will head through the festival with the Centennial Middle School Marching Band to the main stage in front of the Yuma Art Center.
Various food vendors, entertainment, music and demonstrations by local artists and dance troupes will fill the day.
“Don’t forget to stop by the United Building for readings of all your favorite classic stories,” Benacka said.
Attendees are invited to come and experience a display of over 2,000 works of art from 17 area schools inside the Yuma Art Center galleries. The City will have a cupcake table and photo booth in the galleries to help this festival celebrate a big anniversary.
