Yuma, Arizona - The City of Yuma asks residential solid waste customers to pay special attention to their blue curbside recycling containers this week, as pickups will be moved up a day due to an impending holiday.

Yuma City Hall will be closed Friday, November 10, for observance of Veterans Day.

Curbside recycling pickups for homes inside the Yuma city limits will change due to the holiday. City of Yuma residents who normally have their recycling picked up on Thursdays will have collections on Wednesdays. Those who have garbage pickups on Fridays will have collections on Thursday.

Residential refuse collection will take place as normal on Monday and Tuesday.

“The weeks when the holiday is later in the week, we notice lighter participation,” noted Public Works Manager Joe Lopez. “We also see an increase in complaints due to people being unware of the schedule change.”

The City anticipates the timing of this year’s Veterans Day may catch recycling customers off guard, and asks residents to share this information with family members, friends and neighbors.

A list of all holiday-related schedule changes in curbside pickup can be found on the Garbage and Recycling Collection section of the City’s website, as are color-coded calendars illustrating changes in pickup dates and City Hall closure dates.

Residents can still read official city documents, register for a Parks and Recreation program and more whenever City Hall is closed by visiting https://www.yumaaz.gov.
