Phoenix, Arizona - The FBI’s Violent Crimes Task Force and the Phoenix Police Department are asking for the public’s assistance to help identify the Mismatch Bandit who is believed to have committed 14 robberies in Phoenix since August 2, 2018. The most recent robbery occurred Saturday, September 29, 2018.

The Mismatch Bandit earned his name due to the various clothing he’s worn throughout the robberies and because there appears to be no pattern to the businesses that he chooses to rob.

The businesses robbed are wide-ranging and include the following:

  • Goodwill
  • Subway
  • CVS
  • Denny’s
  • Walgreens
  • Domino’s
  • Cricket
  • Family Dollar
  • MetroPCS

During the robberies, the suspect enters the business and goes to the counter. He demands money from the register while either lifting his sweatshirt to display a gun in his waistband or by holding his hand under his sweatshirt and simulating a weapon. Once an employee gives him the money, he puts it into his pocket and leaves on foot.

The suspect typically wears a hoodie with the hood up, a bandana to cover the lower half of his face, baggy sweatpants, and gray shoes. The suspect is described as a white male, 30 to 40 years old, 5’6" to 5’10" tall, and 155 to 175 pounds. He has dirty blond hair with a receding hairline and blue or green eyes.

No one has been injured in the robberies. A reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the subject.
