Ajo Border Patrol Agents Seize More Than 1500 Pounds of Marijuana

Lukeville, Arizona - Border Patrol agents from the Ajo Station seized approximately 1,531 pounds of marijuana over the weekend worth an estimated $765,500.

Agents working in collaboration with Customs and Border Protection (CBP) air assets from the Yuma Air Branch recovered 15 bundles of abandoned marijuana east of Lukeville, Ariz., yesterday. The narcotics weighed 765 pounds, with an estimated value of $382,500.

Agents assisted by a CBP helicopter seized 12 bundles of abandoned marijuana Saturday with a total weight of 580 pounds and an estimated value of $290,000.

Agents training near the international boundary Friday discovered two bundles of abandoned marijuana, along with a loaded 9mm handgun, near Lukeville. The bundles had a total weight of 186 pounds valued at $93,000.

The narcotics will be turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration.
