Nogales, Arizona - Tucson Sector Border Patrol agents from the Nogales and Tucson Stations arrested four Mexican nationals who were previously convicted for felonies in the United States and Mexico.
On October 13, 2017, Nogales agents arrested Marcos Cruz-Castro, 21, after he illegally entered the country near Nogales, Arizona. During processing, agents discovered Cruz was convicted in Wisconsin on felony charges of exposing a child to harmful materials, and misdemeanor charges of sexual assault.
Agents arrested Jose Burrola-Pliego, 40, after he entered the country illegally near Nogales. Agents conducted a records check on Burrola and learned he was incarcerated in Mexico following a murder conviction in 2011. He had also served time in the United States for extensive immigration violations.
On Sunday afternoon, Nogales agents arrested Luis Vargas-Vargas, 26, shortly after he illegally entered the United States. A subsequent records check indicated Vargas was convicted on two counts of felony sexual conduct with a minor in Phoenix in 2013.
Early Monday, Tucson Station agents working near Sasabe, Arizona arrested Aloberto Hernandez-Ortiz, 44, for being in the U.S. illegally. When agents conducted a records check on his fingerprints, they found Hernandez was convicted for murder in Florida and was removed from the U.S. in 2014.
All four men are currently in custody awaiting a disposition on felony criminal immigration violations.
All individuals apprehended by the Border Patrol undergo criminal history checks using biometrics to ensure illegal immigrants with criminal histories are positively identified.
