Yuma, Arizona - On Tuesday, August 22, 2017 President Trump arrived in Yuma, Arizona. Air Force 1 landed at Marine Corps Air Station Yuma, shortly before 2:00 p.m. and flew off to Phoenix around 3:00 p.m.
Well over one-thousand Yuma area citizens lined streets and parking areas near MCAS Yuma to watch President Trump’s arrival and departure. The main areas affected were 32nd Street, between Avenue 2 ½ E and Avenue 3E, and Pico Avenue by 40th Street.
The Yuma Police Department had officers roving the areas and many on standby to ensure the safety of all individuals during this event. We are pleased to report we only had one incident that resulted in one person being cited and released. There were a few heat related issues also and the Yuma Fire Department provided medical assistance to these individuals in a timely manner. There were a few times our officers had to remind some who gathered to back up away from the roadway for their safety and they did so without hesitation. Some of our roving officers said they were thanked for their service and for being there to keep our community safe.
