Phoenix, Arizona - Governor Jan Brewer: "Arizona grieves today for an American hero who has lost his life in service to this country. Special Warfare Operator Chief Brett D. Shadle, a member of Navy SEAL Team 6, was killed Thursday during a parachute training exercise in southern Arizona when he and another SEAL collided in midair. The second SEAL, who remains unidentified, reportedly is hospitalized in stable condition.
Tucson, Arizona - Curtis Michael Garcia, 33, of Sells, Arizona was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Raner C. Collins to 16 ½ years in prison. Following incarceration, Garcia will be on lifetime supervision with sex offender conditions, including registering as a sex offender.
