Residential Fire, Explosions Result In Fatalities PDF Print E-mail

Yuma, Arizona - Yesterday at 3:15 am, the Sheriff’s Office responded to a residential fire at 10423 S. Avenue 14 ½ E. Witnesses reported hearing several small explosions coming from the residence during the fire. The explosions are believed to have been caused by small arms ammunition, which ignited during the fire.

After the fire was extinguished, two deceased victims were located inside the residence. The victims are believed to be an adult male, and an adult female. The cause of death is unknown at this time. The identity of the victims is being withheld pending positive identification and notification of next of kin.

The Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate this case. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined and is suspicious in nature. Anyone with any information concerning this case is asked to contact the Yuma County Sheriff’s Office at (928) 783-4427.
